Summary
|
The chapter starts with a fight between Akuma and an albino tatzelwurm, which quickly gets advantage of the fight due to biting Akuma and so paralyzing his leg with its poison. While Akuma can get away from the creature, he soon realizes that he is in danger, as he tumbles onto the ground and the tatzelwurm coming closer to land a final blow. Akuma eventually manages to struggle up and startle the beast. They both then attack each other and a loud cry is heard.

The scene changes to Kiriko wandering around in a very dark area. She finds a body lying on the ground and desperately shakes it but nothing happens. Red mist appears behind her and then turns into a blood wolf, the dripping blood keeping Kiriko's front paws stuck and now the blood wolf's grinning face is seen.
Kiriko wakes up from her dream. After a look at Kasai she walks out of the cave where they spend the night, and returns after a few breaths and thoughts to curl up and sleep. |

The next morning Kasai wakes up Kiriko. After some conversation they continue travelling. They stop at a river, where Kasai decides to try to catch food for his mentor as she apparently didn't eat much the past days. But Kiriko convinces him to come and continue their journey.
Later they arrive at the clearing where Akuma has been fighting with the tatzelwurm, and it doesn't take long that they find the creature's body. After they find some blood that smells like that of Akuma, Kiriko freaks out and dashes away to find the black wolf, Kasai following.
Soon after they find him, and together they walk away and into a cave they tend to live in. Akuma talks a bit about the poison and that he just needs rest and something to eat. Kiriko and Kasai fetch some food for him, Kasai then goes to sleep, and Kiriko and Akuma continue talking. The black wolf mentions that he sensed something he didn't like, but isn't really talkative about it, which annoys Kiriko as she wants to know what's exactly up. On the other hand she wants to handle things on her own, she tells Akuma about her plans on training Kasai for one more year and then taking her revenge, and Akuma isn't really happy about that. He tells her to rest and sleep and gather strength.
The chapter ends with a shot of a figure in a night forest. It watches as a creature looking like a tatzelwurm screams and dissolves. Last shot is a close-up to the eyes of the figure while lightning strikes and thunder is heard.
